FAQ

LIP POLISHES

Why should I use a sugar scrub?

Sugar is an excellent topical exfoliant and we use only organic sugar in our polishes. It is also a natural humectant, drawing moisture from the environment into the skin which will help hydrate and keep moisture in. Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin encouraging cell turnover.

Our polishes are packed with natural butters, oils and waxes including SHEA BUTTER, APRICOT KERNAL OIL, CASTOR OIL and CAMELLIA OIL. A gentle polish will provide a conditioned and smooth base for lasting lip colour application.

How often should I use a lip exfoliator?

We recommend exfoliating the lips 1-2 times a week, and always follow with a balm for extra conditioning and to lock in moisture.

Will sugar make my lips dry?

Sugar is gentle and non-irritating on the sensitive skin of the lips. it is a natural humectant and retains moisture so prevents lips from cracking.

Why are your products not 100% organic?

Hi sugar babes. if you’ve made it this far, then it's fair to say you care about your health and using the most natural products you can get your hands on. We need to tell you our ethos about organic ingredients and aim to provide you only the best of natures bounty we can find.

Our lip polishes contain some natural powders, minerals and clays which although may be from the earth and considered organic, cannot be certified as organic as they are not grown or cultivated in a controlled organic process. In addition, the natural pigments we choose to use in the form of mineral clays and micas will not be organic as they are in powder form. the greater the pigment percentage, the lower the organic percentage.

We use a variety of vegan waxes which although are naturally sourced, are not certified organic. For example, candelilla wax although wild grown is not certified organic. As wax cannot be considered food, certifying it under organic agriculture standards isn't possible.

We will always choose to use the highest percentage of organic ingredients as possible in our formulations.

Luxe rose and Matcha mint are made up of over 80% organic ingredients with no fillers, synthetic fragrance or chemical SPF, and of the highest quality for a natural product. not tested on animals.

Are the fragrances natural?

As it is our ethos to not use fake or synthetic fragrances, our products are lightly scented with good food grade essential oils so you only get the nutrients and good benefits from those.

You can use it as often as you'd like depending on the conditioning you like for your lips. Unlike conventional products which form a barrier, natural products will nourish and reach deeper into the skins layers to really mositurise and smooth the delicate skin of the lips.

We recommend applying a thick layer before bed, as this gives your lips time to repair overnight.

I noticed some small grains in my lip balm. Is this normal?

This can occur in a natural lip balm formulation, as the organic butters sometimes crystalize due to temperature changes which can occur if the tube has been left in a hot car, or in direct sunlight etc. once warmed and applied, The grains will melt into your lips.

What does the lip balm smell like?

The scent of our natural and luxe balm is very mild and natural. We have not added any fragrances or essential oils to this product, so all you smell is the pure ingredients.

The scents of the lip polishes are that of pure, food grade essential oils.
